Was discussing with my friends the problem of stepping into the society after ORD. It came to my attention that I'm no longer the kid I'm used to be, for at least I'm being forced not to be.

When we're young, we've always been yearning to grow up so as to be able to do things that adult forbade us to do, like staying out late, spending money on god knows what those stuff are for, drinking alcohol, watching restricted videos (lmao) and the list goes on. But we do not see the harshness of adulthood, the financial problems, the relationship problems and so on.

I'm suddenly harbouring this awkward feeling, maybe because due to Singaporean educational system, we citizens have not been exposed too much to the outside world and suddenly we have to be dependant on ourselves. I believe students should be given more freedom during their schooling days so as to allow them to practise decision making, which is a very important skill to have when you get older.

Anyway back to the main point, when I was in conversation with my good buddies, we were trying to ask this real good friend of mine to convert from a part time job to a full time one, since he's already working like one. But he does have his own reasons, because he's an A-Level student, he don't really have much options to consider until he completes his degree. I believe he does have his ambitions but somehow qualifications have tied him down and limiting his choices, that's the kind of society you get in Singapore - Qualification Based Society.

Actually I'm not sure whether is it feasible or even possible to have a society that employs people based on their talents and that qualifications come later. Some fields do that, fields like designing and culinary, qualifications come later than profile. I've thought of doing media design when I was still in my first 3 months at SRJC, but for no reason I gave up that thought and chose IT at Temasek instead. But after 3 years at Temasek, I don't regret my choice, because I did learn quite a lot at TP. hah.

Now that I'm doing my degree at SIM, I've done some rough planning of what I should do in the coming years, but let's keep our fingers crossed that things go smoothly.

Anyway just hope that Friday you can see me on the papers, being the winner for Lunar Festival TOTO hahaha.
